Art Nouveau: Merging The Traditional and The New Age of Art

Thursday, October 23rd, 2008

Art Nouveau is a style that is a very important moment in history. It’s a style of decoration and architecture of the late 19th and early 20th centuries, characterized particularly by the depiction of leaves and flowers in flowing, sinuous lines. The turn of the 19th into the 20th century was an era of great change. People know the wonders of technology and industry for the first time. This amendment introduces a new style of art that reflects  wonder and fear.

Many believe that Art Nouveau is the predecessor of the well known geometric designs found in artistic endeavors, including Art Deco. People were in the process of natural landscapes into industrial cleaning edges and perfect models found in works of art from the 20th century.

Architecture and decoration are key elements of this movement in the direction of geometrical design. Art Nouveau had its inception in 1890. This era welcomes this new century with a new attitude about art and beauty. This attitude reflects a revolutionary new way of life.

As people began to enter the urban scene, they began to see a new inspiration in their modern environment. Old traditions were fading on the path to some, and traditional lifestyles are emerging on the scene. Art Nouveau sought to strike a balance between tradition and new age.

While many artists were drawn to the emerging industry and technology, others were harkening back to traditional art forms. Art Nouveau was a response to the industrial revolution that attempted to merge traditional themes with new, more geometric designs.

You can find many elements of Art Nouveau style that embrace traditional themes, including mythology and fairy tales, but this revolutionary approach to these works of art of traditional soars to new heights. The industry perspective is quite evident, even in the most traditional themes.

The balance between the old and new is never easy to maintain. However, Art Nouveau has succeeded in presenting traditional themes in an entirely new way. The new perspective has changed the way we saw art as a society. People began to recognize the artistic qualities of everyday objects including fashion and jewelry.

Furniture has started to consider the issue during the Art Nouveau at the turn of the century. Homes embraced new forms and new colors indicative of this revolutionary period in art history. Styles began to change in the house and in the wardrobe. Art Nouveau aesthetic set in all aspects of the average person’s life.

With the turn of the 21st century, Art Nouveau has reappeared on the scene. Many people join this artistic movement that is now 100 years. Perhaps the Art Nouveau had its place in history once again.

Affordable Arts

Friday, September 12th, 2008

So I watched this flick the other night. Maybe you’ve heard it. It’s called “The DaVinci Code.” As you probably know already, this is about  arts and bizarre history with regard to Jesus Christ. Well, as I saw Tom Hanks consider the Mona Lisa, it struck me, how art is ridiculously expensive. Now I know what you think ancient paintings centuries ago should be worth several million. However, I can personally say that this ancient art is a lot to me. I guess I would rather have an affordable art hanging on my wall that shows exactly what I enjoy. After all, art should not be about cost.

What about you? This is a relevant question for those who enjoy some form of art. You may be taken back by the phenomenal nature scenes or powerful waterfalls. This is totally understandable. I think it is safe to say that we’re all  lovers of beautiful things. Well, did you know that you can get affordable works of art illustrating these visions? You can hang a great scene from the nature of your wall and not to empty the savings account in the process. Think of all the art students from there, just dying in the  market to show their work.  Not only will you acquire some darn affordable art, but you’ll struggle to help an artist in the process.

When it comes to art, I prefer scenes of astronomy. I hired a local artist to come to my house and paint a large scene of the room on the walls of my daughter. The artist did a brilliant job and my daughter loved it. A total of $ 300, I would certainly call this affordable art. She completed the project in two days. Imagine what I would have paid a famous artist for the same work! It may have cost me the price of a car or something absurd. Art is not about money, it is beauty and expression. Think about it the next time you’re in the market for some art to compliment your home. I bet you can get much of a college art student who has much to offer.
