Learn To Draw

November 13th, 2008

Many people think that drawing is a talent given to a handful of people and talent that can not be taught to the average Joe. However, anyone can learn to draw better than he ever imagined by following a few steps. The ability to draw well is a process and while you may not be able to create a masterpiece in the near future, you can learn to draw very well.

The design is an art that is practiced. I discovered that if you do not refine this skill and practice on a regular basis, you may lose part of your board. It is easier for some of us learn to draw than others, but no matter what, someone who will practice will get the best results.

Natural talent  can get only so far. When you learn to draw, learn to develop and maintain skills. If you do not exercise your skills, you will get a little out of shape. To return to your old art form is quite simple. You just need to practice the craft on a regular basis.

Part of how a person can learn is to draw and see things differently. The design is as much to see that it is on the way. Your perception is very valuable and it allows you to move forward the way you see the world of your work. After this, the next step is  to see things artistically.

Look rather the shapes as a whole. Many of us tend to see the whole face instead of the almond-shaped eyes and the way the cheeks in the form of growing majestic waves in front. When you learn to draw, learn to see the different forms in the form.

This might make more sense once you’ve started. Seeing forms in the forms quickly become a natural way to see your subjects, after a certain time. There is also the problem of how you see your own work. When you learn to draw, you will notice that some parts do not look just right, no matter what you do.

Simply turn the drawing upside down. This causes your brain to see the re-design without your “inner eye” to give a preconceived perception. The first thing when  you want to learn to draw is to obtain some form of education. This could be a video, a book or class or whatever that will  inspire you to start .

Photography As A Hobby

October 8th, 2008

I have a degree in social work. I worked in the field for thirty years and began to count the number of years until I could retire. I do not do my job, but I found it difficult to remain optimistic when I treat people’s problems all day. One of the things I do to relax and rejuvenate my spirit is in the garden. I have perennial gardens that I tend to love. Over the years, I learned to keep my camera close by when I’m in the garden because there are many opportunities to take pictures of hummingbirds and other creatures that are attracted by the flowers.

One day two years ago, I was sitting on a small stool to draw weeds. I had my camera around my neck because I was hoping to get a picture of the hummingbird that was flying around the flowers. I do not know if it was because I was sitting or what, but a hummingbird has returned close to me, and sitting on my heart bushes. I slowly raised my camera and could take several photos of it based on the branch. Another hummingbird then began feeding on the flowers from the bush. I was so close I could hear the beating of wings. The sun was at a perfect angle to capture the beautiful colors of feathers. I could hardly wait to get photos of hummingbirds developed. I quickly turned off the rest of the roller and the film took in. The photos of hummingbirds have been fantastic. And to my surprise I realized that I had caught a picture of their little nest with two eggs in it. The nest is in one of the plants that I took a picture of the use of film.

The person to the camera shop asked if they could display an image. A few days later I was called about the sale of one of photos. I had so many requests that I had more framed. I’m doing nature photography and selling prints. It is a great career change. I’m not counting the days to retirement.
